How to Find Online Bargains

Promotional deals and cost savings

Online bargains are out there, and in large numbers, just waiting for you to take advantage of their promotional deals and cost savings. Despite what you might think, online bargains are not hiding. They want you to find them. They want to be utilized.

We all know just how large the abyss – otherwise known as the Internet – has grown to be. Oftentimes, promotional deals and offers are lost amidst wave upon wave upon wave of information. Do you find it frustrating? Anyone with a pulse would. You want online bargains. You just can’t help but become disheartened sometimes while trying to find them, as the best promotional deals and discounts can be illusive. Not only that, but many online bargains are also out-of-date or misleading.

However, there is actually a simple formula which you can follow to alleviate some of the frustration surrounding the search while your effort is still rewarded with significant cost savings.

  1. Clearly Identify What You Are Looking For

  2. Sounds obvious right? But you’d be surprised at how many people beat themselves into web fatigue by not clearly identifying what they want to buy before looking at prices. One thing at a time. First, determine what product or service you want by researching online through Google or your favorite search engine. Read up on it. Read reviews, testimonials and other info so that you can decide what is best for you.

  3. Search and Compare

  4. Now that you know what you’re looking for, it’s time to search and compare. Break down just how much of an offering those promotional deals really are.

The easiest, most time-effective way to do this is by utilizing comparison shopping websites like dealsharks.com (others include bizrate.com, nextag.com, froogle.com, pricegrabber.com, shopzilla.com, etc.). You should never take just one comparison site’s word, as they may be in some way affiliated with some of the companies supplying the product or service, so search a few.

Each of them will give you a list of supposed online bargains for the product or service you’re looking for from different companies so that you can determine the best one. Note that the best choice may not always be the one with the lowest listed price, as there are often hidden costs associated within the fine print.

  5. Search Again

  6. Although comparison shopping sites can drastically reduce the time you spend seeking these promotional deals and cost savings, they will not always guarantee you the best online bargains.

This time try just searching a standard search engine (google, yahoo, msn, etc.), and see what comes up. Quite often it might lead you to a lower price.

  7. Verify the Deal

  8. By now you have a short-list of the lowest prices for the product or service you are looking to buy. You might find that there is not a lot of money separating each different listing. Before you make a hasty decision and click that final “Buy” button for the one listing with the lowest price, evaluate the details of promotional deals.

    Things to consider:
    • Reputation of the company. Don’t let $1.25 online bargains keep you from buying a better product from a more secure and stable supplier. Is the company reliable? What is their return policy? Customer service? Have you read the fine print?

    • Shipping costs. Where is the product coming from? Does that make a difference to you? The shipping cost should be part of your final price assessment. Don’t overlook it in the excitement of finding a great promotional deal, as it may come back to bite you.

    • Print and haggle. Try printing out the quote, and then going into a few stores to see if they will match it. Use the online bargains as leverage for the best deal. It’s a competitive marketplace; the best promotional deals aren’t always online.

The Internet is a big place, but by following these four steps, it will seem small enough that you can not only effectively find online bargains without suffering web fatigue, but you’ll have confidence that it will stand up to any discount, sale, or promotional deals around. Good shopping!
