All About Promotional Offers

How to find the best online coupons and discounts

Promotional offers are typically made available when a company is willing to offer cost savings to the consumer by way of online coupons, or some sort of discount on the price of a product or service which they want to promote.

Often, promotional offers are given to create awareness and/or consumer buzz around a new product or service, and they can take many shapes. Sometimes promotional offers appear in the form of online coupons; sometimes they’re packaged together with another product or service they offer. In most cases, the company is selling a product or service at below market value now, during a “limited time,” with the hope that it will pay off down the road for them.

As a consumer, this is usually one of the best times to buy a new product or service. Promotional offers are a way for companies to provide incentive for consumers to buy. In return, the companies are given access to the market where they can gauge reaction to their product or service. This, as we all remember from economics in school, also allows the company to be more efficient by using that demand to determine how much of the product or service they supply to the public.

There may be some concern on the consumer’s end that online coupons or discounts on a new product or service simply makes lab rats out of them. Enticing consumers with money through promotional offers, just as you would a rat with cheese, to properly test their product or service and help the company gauge market demand. In reality, it’s a gamble for both consumer and company. If it’s a quality product or service, both win. If sub-par, they both lose. That being said, taking advantage of online coupons and promotional offers is usually a safe gamble for the consumer unless the company is in the business of losing money.

The problem is that every e-business claims they are giving you the best promotional offers around. The challenge becomes sifting through the seemingly endless string of online coupons, rebates or discounts to determine which ones are the best.

There are different schools of thought on how to find the best online promotional offers. First, your consumer mindset. Are you willing to take advantage of online coupons or rebates offered based on value, and not on your particular need for the product or service? Or, are you looking for something specific and just want to find the best deal out there?

If you’re looking for something specific, it will be easier to search and find the best promotional offers available. Simply enter in what you’re looking for at a comparison shopping site, such as Dealsharks.com, or just perform a basic search on a search engine, such as Google, or Yahoo to see what’s out there. If you know what you’re looking for it shouldn’t take long at all. In terms of finding the best value based on price, reputation of company, and other factors, the timing might not be right. So patience is a virtue, if you can afford it.

If you’re a value hawk, it is all about the preparation. Try signing up for e-newsletters of larger companies so that the latest online coupons, promotional offers and deals are sent to you via e-mail as soon as they’re available. If you’re worried about your Inbox getting cluttered, set up a new email account, so that it’s all in one convenient place. You can even use fake information to ensure you don’t get put on any additional mailing lists.

While signing up for e-newsletters will give you the latest promotional offers a company has released, you can save time by going through different comparison shopping sites, as they are all bundled into one easy location, cutting down your search time. There, you can see the available online coupons or discounts, determine the best promotional offers by assessing its value, and then decide.
